Rine

Photoshop 7, tablet, quite a few hours.
Rine, my own character, representing myself in some ways I suppose.

Tried some new techniques this time concerning shading.

Rine, pronounced as r-ai-n. He's the 3rd main character in my story.

Rine's biological parents are unknown.
He was raised by an old hermit in the mountains west of Angel's Falls. The hermit died when Rine was 17 years old, but in his final days, he told Rine about the past that was never discussed. The hermit told him that he found Rine when he was still an infant in the middle of a thunder storm when going back to his house, lying by a bush, with a cloth scorched with the name Rine, and a strange looking sword with lightning marks on it's blade.
After the hermit's death, Rine left the mountains in search of his origin.

By the time he was 20 years old he was considered one of the best swordsmen in Arez. He was also considered a scholar, he never lost a battle of wits, and always knew the right thing to say. At the age of 21, he faced one of the hardest battles in his life, where he withnessed a slaughter of two nobles.

As he rushed into battle drawing his sword, a sudden shock overwhelmed him tripping him. He was facing a monster, he could feel it's presence, but it didn't feel evil. The two went into battle, in which Rine delivered an intense strike hitting his opponent's sword, and suddenly he could feel a shock of electricity flowing all through him into his arms, and his vision turning a lot sharper. He noticed the lightning marks on the blade emmiting a quick shine and his opponents sword shattered. He started shining and violently shaking, panicing. He had no idea what was happening to him. After a few seconds he came back to his senses, still confused, he decided to let his opponent live, something inside him told him he mustn't kill it.

After that battle, Rine knew something wasn't right with him, he felt stronger, faster, smarter. He could notice the almost inexistant details, which gave him insight in battles, he could almost predict his foe's moves.

Few years after that incident, he will discover his origin and the source of his power. Rine is a reincarnation of a lightning dragon that disappeared over a thousand years before Rine was born. Most of the dragon's power was sealed into Rine's sword, and a little portion into Rine himself to make sure the dragon could survive until the time he is needed.
